Toyota's third generation Avensis, its flagship model in Europe, is sleeker than its predecessor and resembles the Lexus IS and GS models. The new Avensis is based on a stretched version of the Auris lower-medium car.
The Avensis and Auris are built in Toyota's factory in Burnaston, England. The new Avensis will go on sale during the first quarter of 2009. Last year, Toyota sold 106,886 Avensis cars in Europe, down 11.5 percent from 2006, according to Automotive News Europe's market analysis by segment.
